To me, it was missing its own identity and conclusion to feel like its own film. Upon first viewing, I wasn't a huge fan of the first Deathly Hallows. But then there is the Harry Potter series, which managed to make a well-strung first part, which ranks among the franchise's best, to set up one of the greatest conclusions in film history. There have been quite a few times, especially recently, when dividing the last story of a franchise into two parts was a huge mistake.
